Oki! Welcome to the Siksika Nation high school's "website"! It is my pleasure to provide an overall message from the student and staff of our Nations High School. Our high school offers the entire curriculum expected through Alberta Learning for grade 7 through 12. We provide other programs and they are:
Natosi Learning Center, which is a special education program for our multiply challenged students. Our Integrated Occupation Program - which offers programming for students who need more hands - on instruction. The students in these programs are always able to transfer out into the mainstream. The Pathfinders - Virtual School - this program offers the entire core subject curriculum from grade 7-12. It is a mastery-learning program that allows students to work at their own pace and achieve high academic levels. The teacher is there as a facilitator only. We also offer various CTS courses such as, Cosmetology Building Construction, Mechanics, Forestry, Wild Life, Outdoor Education, Sports Medicine, Food Studies, Fashion Studies, etc. Sports Performance 15-25-35, this is a hockey skills development program, students get 2 days (afternoons) of on ice instruction while earning 5 credits per level, towards their high school diploma. We also offer a wide variety or cultural and traditional programs which are unique to the Blackfoot confederacy. Certified teachers teach Blackfoot language. When possible, resource people from the community are brought in to host sacred ceremonies.
We have approximately 240 students that attend our school full time. We have alternatives arrangements available for students who may need time to sort out personal issues, alternatives such as ½ day attendance, or staggered days of attendance.
Our staff consists of 19 certified teachers and 13 support staff. Each staff member teaches a variety of courses in both the junior and senior high programs. Our staff coach in various sports programs. We compete in most of the Alberta Athletic School Association sports events; we also compete within the Treaty #7 sports tournaments.
